Dr. S. Idema is gespecialiseerd in de epilepsiechirurgie en het wetenschappelijk onderzoek hiervan. Zijn doel is het vergroten van het aantal patiënten dat door een operatie van hun epilepsie afgeholpen kan worden. Hij is gepromoveerd op een onderzoek naar virustherapie bij hersentumorpatienten.
